Grip Training Drills

Introduction

Many people make the mistake of resorting to lifting straps long before they should need them. These grip training drills will help.

At it's most basic, training your grip means heavier lifts. But it goes a little deeper than that because there's a correlation between grip strength and longevity, albeit it's only a correlation and grip is almost certainly a proxy for the muscle mass and strength that are probably the real cause of this increased lifespan.

These grip training drills are simple to perform, use equipment that will be available in any gym - if not simply lying around the house or easily accessible outside - and take almost no time at all.

Keep in mind, however that it's relatively easy to overtrain your grip and grip-fatigue will hamper your main heavy lifts. When training your grip, less really is more.

With that in mind, let's have a look at these three simple drills.
